Lorde's "Leader of a New Regime" gets a climate-conscious music video by Corey Baker
The concept and choreography behind the music video was envisioned by New Zealand-born, UK-based filmmaker and choreographer Corey Baker, who worked with nine dancers to create this windswept film at Falck Renewables’ Millennium Wind Farm in the Scottish Highlands. The project takes its name from the tenth track of Lorde’s climate-conscious album Solar Power, which she released earlier this year. This film was created for the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow as part of The Generation Restoration Film Festival, produced by the UN Environment Programme. ...continue reading on https://www.nowness.com/series/just-dance/leaders-of-a-new-regime-lorde #Lorde #COP26 # _______________________________________ Subscribe to NOWNESS here: http://bit.ly/youtube-nowness Like NOWNESS on Facebook: http://bit.ly/facebook-nowness Follow NOWNESS on Twitter: http://bit.ly/twitter-nowness Daily exclusives for the culturally curious: http://bit.ly/nowness-com Behind the scenes on Instagram: http://bit.ly/instagram-nowness Staff Picks on Vimeo: http://bit.ly/vimeo-nowness

'Feeling Myself' by Kimberly Walker (Official music video)
‘Feeling Myself’ is an eerie, genre bending story about mental health, the pressure it puts on relationships and the drowning feeling of being lost in your own mind. The track explores the difficulties in learning how to navigate through the darkest most vulnerable days, and is a desperate cry for help to which many can relate. Battling between pushing your partner away and not wanting to be alone, ‘Feeling Myself’ is a whirlwind of emotions capturing the importance of feeling loved and supported on your worst days. 'Feeling Myself' is part of the EP 'Freckles' - https://open.spotify.com/album/2lpbuMdcKeKhOgsRGlssP8?si=JeQWZXUGSOiTazOsXcyhzw The incredible team involved The Official Music Video : Choreographed, videoed and edited by - Melody Squire Dancers - Ena Yamaguchi and Callum Bowman Vision/Direction - Kimberly Walker and Melody Squire Special thanks to - Charles Ames and Noel Ò Mhuirí The Track : Music/Lyrics by - Kimberly Walker and Craig Sellar Executive Producer - Freemonk at The Friary Studios Producer - Craig Sellar Mixing Engineer - Ivo.sotirov Mastered by - Pete Maher Photography/Artwork: Javan André

HANA
HANA is a short dance film that serves as a celebration of the female gaze and the liberated female Japanese identity, reclaiming the status of the subject away from the male gaze. The dance of a female Japanese dancer leads us through a journey of self-discovery. Similar to the growth and blossoming of a flower in the spring, she uses her body as a physical extension of her self and expresses a new-found power in self-affirmation as a woman through expressive dance. Dancer: Ena Lily Yamaguchi DOP: Frank Madone

One and the Same
14.「One and the Same」 振付:富岡カイ 出演:山口恵奈 福田智子 This piece is called ‘One and the Same’. It is an exploration of a singular human existence, and the feelings of how one feels as both an individual, and part of a collective. This is a piece about how you can feel more than one thing at the same time. To feel love, to feel loss. To feel happy, and to feel sad. These things can all exist at one given moment. It is being alive at a single point in time, and a whole lifetime too. When you need to get somewhere, to get away, and everything else in between. Choreographed by Kai Tomioka In collaboration with Ena Yamaguchi and Satoko Fukuda

Alexander Whitley Dance Company - Overflow - Trailer
In 2017 New Wave Associate Alexander Whitley combined film and dance for 8 Minutes, a breath-taking journey to the sun. Known for his groundbreaking use of technology, Whitley’s new work delves into what it means to be human in the era of big data. Overflow features a dazzling kinetic light sculpture by Children of the Light with creative technologists Fenyce, costumes by fashion artist Ana Rajcevic and a new score by composer Rival Consoles, who has created music, experimenting with “ambient soundscapes, industrial textures, and high-octane club energy” (Pitchfork), for the Netflix series Black Mirror. Digital technology, now a seemingly indispensable part of modern life, is radically transforming how we experience and act in the world. Overflow considers how our desires, fantasies and vulnerabilities are powerfully influenced by social platforms and explores what lurks beneath our compulsions to check, share and like. “The mounting pile of data does nothing to answer the simple question ‘Who am I?’” Byung-Chul Han. “Behavioural data, mined from human experience, is now the primary commodity in a communication system designed to know everything about us while remaining unknowable to us. Recording our every click and ‘like’ in order to predict and modify our behaviour, our ability to act freely and our relationship to the future are fundamentally changed. In making Overflow, I’ve drawn inspiration from a wealth of fascinating writing exposing the social, political and psychological transformations we are experiencing in the era of big data and considered the impact this is having on personal autonomy and collective action.” Alexander Whitley. High by Keneish Dance Trailer 2017
High is an invigorating and stirring dance production exposing an intimate health story. Through a rich combination of African, Contemporary and Jazz, set against a pulse driven, sound score, Keisha Grant and dancers delve into the world of post-addiction. In Keneish Dance’s newest work you are invited to experience a story based on a spiritual recovery from the trauma of addiction. When a young woman is brought back into her past of childhood memories, she is torn between two parts of herself. We watch as a state of denial and blame force her to a place where her memories try to take over. “High is about real people, real thoughts and real emotions that aren't normally discussed openly.” - Keisha Grant, Artistic Director
